Call Schedule

Section 8: COVERAGE/TIME OFF
You must sign out your beeper to someone willing to cover you on your weekend off (call Blessing Operator 223-5811), return time is Monday morning 7:00 a.m. or earlier (call to check back in). Inform resident covering of any “special” patients or problems, etc.

Also, when you go on vacation, sick leave, education leave, etc. (appropriate forms need to be filled out), you must sign out to another resident and leave a note for your nurse detailing who is covering your box and covering patient questions.

Please check resident calendar in resident’s room to verify availability of time off, in general no more than 4 residents can be gone at one time. Remember, the earlier your request (weekend or otherwise), the better. Requests are granted by date. Please communicate by use of resident board.

Certain rotations do not allow vacation time mid-month, so please check with the Director of Residency Affairs, the chief resident or the residency coordinator. This specifically pertains to the following rotations--Dr. Nassery, Dr. Evans, OB, FPS, etc. You cannot take any time off during a required 2-week rotation, the last seven to ten days of June or the first two weeks in July.

Remember at least three months notice is needed for vacation.

Page checkout policy: may check out up to same number of call nights.
