Evaluation of Resident Physicians
Residents are evaluated by attending physicians in the community, Quincy Family Practice Center faculty, Quincy Family Practice Center patients, residents, medical students and nurses. Residents evaluate the program, faculty, rotations, peers, and nurses.
- Each attending physician will complete a resident evaluation upon completion of the block rotation. This form becomes a part of the permanent file. These evaluations are based upon your performance in the hospital, the office, and other activities. A sample evaluation form can be obtained from the residency coordinator.
- Residents are evaluated routinely by the behavioral science faculty with the use of videotaping. Videotape interactions will be critiqued in order to improve interview techniques and help residents become more aware of patients’ social problems.
- Twice each year, the program faculty will prepare a formal evaluation of each resident. A less formal evaluation will be written after each rotation on the family practice service. Twice a year these evaluations will be compiled by the Residency Director, and the resident will have a 15-minute evaluation in the Residency Director’s office. The director will meet with all new residents to the program after their first three months.
- Residents should also meet with their faculty advisor quarterly to discuss any problems and generally evaluate progress within the program. These are not formal evaluations.
- Residents evaluate the Quincy Family Practice Program and faculty on a yearly basis. The Residency Director gives serious consideration to these evaluations and changes resulting from these evaluations are common.
