Quincy Family Medicine Resident Requirement Quick Facts

Recovery Resources
  • Who: Year 2 (Occasional Year 3 for fill-in)
  • When: Flexible rotations (i.e. Rural Med, FCM, Psych/BehSci)
  • How Many: 8 times per block in the a.m. (2-3 blocks)

Community Outreach

  • Who: Year 2 and Year 3
  • When: FCM Rotations
  • How Many:
    • Year 2: 1-2 mornings per year
    • Year 3: 3-4 mornings and one evening per year

Family Planning

  • Who: Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3
  • When: Flexible rotations (i.e. Rural Med, FCM, Psych/BehSci) and GYN
  • How Many:
    • Year 1: 2 times per year – observation only
    • Year 2 and Year 3 (combined):
    • Male Residents: Minimum 8 – Maximum 10
    • Female Residents: Minimum 4 – Maximum 8

Pre-Participation Sports Physicals

  • Who: Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3
  • When: Musculoskeletal Med, Ortho, Flexible rotations (i.e. Rural Med, FCM, Psych/BehSci)
  • How Many: Minimum of 2 – Maximum 3 per year

Home Visits

  • Who: Year 2 and Year 3
  • When: Before or after hours, or during clinic schedule if scheduled far enough in advance
  • How Many: Minimum of 2 different patients over 2 years (one must be older adult continuity patient)

Nursing Home

  • Who: Year 2 and Year 3
  • When: Every other month
  • How Many: Responsible for approximately 5 – 10 patients
  • NOTE: Year 1 goes in April-June for observation only

OBSTETRICS

  • Who: Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3
  • When: Family Medicine Continuity patients, OB Rotations, Call
  • How Many: 40 deliveries over 3 years
    • minimum 10 continuity patients
    • 30 vaginal

REQUIRED TALKS

  • Obstetrical Noon Conference
    • Who: Year 1 (Year 2 or Year 3 if OB Tract)
    • When: Following first OB rotation (if OB Tract, during OB rotation)
    • How Many: One (Total of two if on OB Tract)
  • Noon Case Conference
    • Who: Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3
    • When: Talk to Mary Ann Epley to schedule this talk
    • How Many: One per year
  • GYN Noon Conference
    • Who: Year 2
    • When: Following Gyn rotation
    • How Many: One
  • Osteopathic Noon Conference
    • Who: Osteopathic Residents Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3
    • When: On any rotation except FPS, Nassery or Evans
    • How Many: One per year
  • Community AHEC Talk
    • Who: Year 1
    • When: FCM I
    • How Many: One (usually given with another resident on FCM)

SCHOLARLY ACTIVITY

  • Who: Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3
  • When: Time is given to residents during the following rotations: RHS, FCM I and FCM II, and research elective.
  • How Many: One (either COPC, scholarly paper, research activity, or presentation at state, regional or national meeting)

OSTEOPATHIC HOSPITAL EVALUATIONS

  • Who: Osteopathic Residents Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3
  • When: During any in-patient encounter
  • How Many:
    • Year 1: Minimum of 8
    • Year 2 and 3: Minimum of 4 per year

OSTEOPATHIC AOA / ACOFP CONVENTION

  • Who: Osteopathic Residents Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3
  • When: Completed by the end of Year 3
  • How Many: One

OSTEOPATHIC CAP PARTICIPATION

  • Who: Osteopathic Residents Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3
  • When: Longitudinal
  • How Many: 8 to 10 charts per year

OSTEOPATHIC LOGS

  • Who: Osteopathic Residents Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3
  • When: Longitudinal
  • How Many: Log all osteopathic treatments outside of continuity clinic
